As a Reiki master with 12 years of experience, I have worked mostly with women. Several of these women have been at the point in their life that they had started to experience “The CHANGE”. The common reaction to menopause is that it’s something to be dreaded, feared, and basically avoided. However, after several Reiki sessions, I have seen something very different happen to them. They started to become themselves. No longer were they worried about what other people thought about what they said or did; no longer were they missing that they were the ones who were in charge of dinner & carpools; no longer were they in relationships that just didn’t work any longer. They became themselves.
The symptoms of menopause can be frustrating and embarrassing, and never does it happen at a good time. We have hot flashes, and night sweats, and mood swings and brain fog, just to name a few. And on top of it all is the anxiety. This overlays all the other issues.
And that’s where Reiki comes in. Reiki by exact definition is Spiritually Guided Life force energy. My definition is that Reiki is a hands-on healing energy that reduces stress. I have found that when your body and mind are calm, the issues that can cause anxiety, don’t have the same impact. And leaning into the changes that your body is experiencing can assist with this process.
“We are becoming the wise Sage, a place of great honor. We can not get there doing the same old, same old. We are bringing our energy into alignment with the Sage energy.” I love this quote from another Reiki Master, Dawn Fleming. The article I read had me start thinking about doing specific work with Reiki & menopause.
